Each of our practices is carried out according to strict principles.

Pruning necessarily affects the development of trees - it influences significantly how the tree uses its resources, its ability to withstand external injuries and weakens its physical status.

It is of the greatest importance to take these factors into account. Therefore, we ensure:

  • Particular care is taken to choose the correct time of year to undertake tree work
  • Our tree climbers undertaking any work are fully trained and certified
  • In line with the regulation Arrêté du 4 Août 2005 du code du travail, the use of metal claws is forbidden for ascents into and movement within the crown, and is limited only to cutting down trees
  • Our staff are trained in the latest rope techniques for access and positioning in trees
  • A complete preliminary diagnosis will be supplied to the client at the inception of each job. This covers three essential points: a diagnosis of the development and vigour of the tree, a diagnosis of the tree’s health and condition, and a diagnosis of the tree’s safety

The conclusions of these initial diagnoses will form the basis of the proposal we submit to the client.

Tree Felling

Occasionally it is necessary or desirable to remove trees because of the adverse effect of their position or condition.

This final solution is often preferable to radical pruning which in time could lead to more dangerous situation in terms of the tree’s health or appearance than at the onset.

Dependent on the constraints of the site, our tree removal work can be one of two methods:

  • Direct felling
  • Felling piece by piece, with or without retention techniques, as suitable

Tree felling is quoted with or without evacuation of the timber. Evacuation is by means of a shredder.

Pines

Pines can be problematic when they reach maturity or if they grow in awkward locations. The uncleaned canopy can hold much dead material and parts can easily break away in high winds and under the weight of snow. Our service offers an initial assessment of the condition of the trees, and recommended action. Upon acceptance of the proposal, expert canopy cleaning, branch removal, and shaping of the tree for its future and aesthetic benefit.

Palms

It has recently been recognised that the palms of the Riviera are under a serious threat of extinction from two main pests – the Paysandisia archon (palm moth) and Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (red palm weevil). These pests are not confined to just one species of palm, they will attack any and all varieties, large and small.
